REFUGEE FAMILIES RECEIVE CORONAVIRUS STIMULUS CHECKS

Refugee families, many that have already transitioned into permanent residence (Green Card Holders) were part of the beneficiaries of the Federal Government Coronavirus stimulus checks. The Internal Revenue Services (IRS) started making deposits in accounts of Americans since last week on Friday and many families reported receiving the funds in today for those with direct deposits. Refugee families that received their tax returns as a check mailed to their address for either 2018 or 2019 will also receive the stimulus package funds the same way.

HOW MUCH IS A REFUGEE FAMILY RECEIVING?

Just like any other American citizen family, a single who works and makes $75,000 and below per year is receiving $1,200 (about UGX 4.32 Million) and for every child 16 years old and below a parent receives $500 (about UGX. 1.8 Million ). For couples who filed jointly and have a gross income of $150,000 and below are receiving $2,400 (about UGX. 8.64 Million) and plus $500 per child they have. This may seem a lot of money but many of these refugee families have been laid off and haven’t been working for about a month now and this money will be used to pay rent, buy groceries (food), pay phone bills, electricity and any other expenses they incur.

Summary:

Single( $75,000 & less per year) = $1,200

Married couple ($150,000 & less per year )=2,400

Each child (16 year and below) = $500

Note:

Any Child 17 years and older who was claimed on a tax return, a parent won’t receive $500.

ABOUT US

CommNews&Info is the Refugee Press Team with members in the U.S, Canada and Uganda. We report on refugee news and other information from refugee camps and settlements and many places they are resettled to in the west.

Our Plan is to avail News, Information and Technologies to remote places, specifically the refugee camps. Our founder realized that there isn't enough effort to get refugees informed making them vulnerable to fake news, misinformation in general, and rumors, something we are addressing.

CommNews&Info is owned by Refugee News and Information Africa Limited (RNIA Ltd.). Among other things we are planning to address is the need for eLearning for schools through providing connectivity in the form of WiFi so students can easily surf the web at schools and in public places.

We also support education for young girls through The Falone Girls Fund.
